Metal Gear Survive is officially a flop in UK, debut at #6
Metal Gear Franchise is a Hideo Kojima Production and it appears that without Kojima working with Konami, Metal Gear Survive is not capturing imagination of gamers.
Upon release last week, Metal Gear Survive seems to have flopped in the UK retail market at least. The new entry in the metal-gear franchise and a spin-off to MGS V: Ground Zeroes has only managed to rank #6 in its debut week on the Chart-track rundown. It is important to note that this ranking only takes physical copies sold to customers into account.
Compared to the most recent full game in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid 5, debut week physical sales of Metal Gear Survive stand at nearly 5%. However, this might be an unfair comparison considering MG: Survive is a spin-off and does not feature Big Boss in the game. In this aspect, comparing Metal Gear Survive with another spin-off of the franchise- Metal Gear Rising would be most optimal. Relative to Rising, Survive has sold 85% fewer physical game copies.
For the multiplatform title, tracking sales of the game on Steam is a little tricky, but the game is clearly placed on #65 in terms of current players chart right behind H1Z1, Human: Fall Flat, and Europa Universalis 4.
Metal Gear Survive is not doing that well in critical review either and currently stands at mediocre Metacritic score of 64 on PS4.
