XBOX One Insiders get USB webcam support

XBOX One Insiders get USB webcam support

For the XBOX One players who never bothered to get a Kinect, Microsoft is now offering a convenient feature for streaming through XBOX One on Mixer. For all of the XBOX Insider program members with alpha accounts, a feature to use external USB webcams has gone live.

XBOX Insider program is essentially a beta tester group for XBOX that includes some of the most loyal and hardcore XBOX gamers. Historically, XBOX Insiders get early access to firmware, software, UI updates ahead of public release. Earlier this year, XBOX Insider program went from an invite only program to a public program with multiple tiers.

The latest feature allowing USB webcams certainly opens up more convenience and flexibility for XBOX One players who want to stream their gameplay. However, one noteworthy omission from this feature is lack of mic support for USB webcams. XBOX One streamers would still require some sort of headset or separate microphone setup to add own audio to the stream.
