Nintendo reportedly working on The Legends of Zelda mobile game
According to a recent report published by The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is planning to handle The Legends of Zelda in the same manner as popular Nintendo franchises like Mario, Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing, making their way to the mobile platforms. Though there is not much information available at the time, WSJ makes the claim that The Legends of Zelda’s arrival on mobile devices will happen similar to Animal Crossing mobile app. The Animal Crossing app is reportedly getting released in second half of 2017 after getting delayed multiple times. Development on the mobile app based on The Legends of Zelda will happen with DeNA, a Japanese mobile company.
The original promise made by Nintendo was to have five mobile games launched by March of 2017 based on popular Nintendo franchises, however only 3 games launched in the promised timeline: Fire Emblem Heroes, Super Mario Run, and Miitomo. In an interview, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the plan was always to launch 5 games on mobile devices, but market factors resulted in one game missing the proposed deadline. On an additional note, the report also references that Pokemon Company is developing a Pokemon based card-game app for mobile devices.
